Our Methodology

Transparency is the foundation of trust. Here is exactly how we go about our work.

1. Selecting Claims to Check

We monitor social media, political speeches, and public broadcasts. We prioritize claims that are spreading rapidly, concern public health, safety, or democratic processes, and are objectively verifiable. We do not fact-check opinions.

2. The Verification Process

  • Tracing the Source: We trace the claim back to its original origin to understand context.
  • Data & Document Review: We rely on primary sources, official data, and original documents.
  • Expert Consultation: When claims involve specialized knowledge (like medicine or law), we consult independent experts with no vested interest in the outcome.
  • Digital Forensics: For images and videos, we use reverse image search, metadata analysis, and geolocation techniques to verify authenticity.

3. The Verdict System

We use a standardized rating system to ensure consistency:

  • True: The claim is entirely accurate.
  • Misleading: The claim has elements of truth but ignores critical context that alters its meaning.
  • False / Fake: The claim is objectively inaccurate or fabricated.

4. Corrections Policy

If we make a mistake, we acknowledge it openly. Corrections are marked clearly at the top of the article, detailing what was changed and when.
